The History of Asian Social Institute 

Asian Social Institute (ASI) is a private graduate and research, The Dutch Scheutist Catholic Missionary, Rev. Dr. Francis Senden, CICM, founded the Asian Social Institute (ASI) in June 1962, with a view to create a learning environment for graduate students to understand comprehensively socio-cultural realities in the light of Christian Social teachings, and act on these realities in a way that they will be able to facilitate change while they themselves grow in the process.

Academic Highlights

The school specializes in economics, sociology, social services, and social work programs. Asian Social Institute (ASI) was established to educate and produce leaders that would change and impact the human social and cultural development and differences of the people and to ensure its environment with a better learning based on Integrated theories on social and economic transformation giving importance to the people-in-community and their essential relationships towards community wealth, justice and humanity.

Asian Social Institute’s programs are structured into 2 departments - the Academe-Research which integrates theory and practice, and the Social Development which provides students in-depth learnings through the school’s subsidiaries including the Family Center, Urban Community Desk, Tent School, Diocesan Accompaniment, Youth Accompaniment, ASI Enterprise and its NGO networks. ASI offers a post graduate program Applied Cosmic Anthropology.

Doctoral Program

The Program is open to holders of a Master's degree or its equivalent from a university or college of recognized standing, with at least five years experience in development work or employment in a responsible position in an educational institute or a development agency. The applicant must submit the following documents:
* Application letter addressed to the chairperson of the Admissions Committee
* Transcript of records of Masteral Degree
* Personal History Data
* Passport-size Photograph
* Letter of endorsement from employer(s) and/or previous professor(s).

Graduate Program

  • For all graduate programs, the appropriate undergraduate degree
  • At least 2-3 years experience in human and social development
  • Leadership potential
  • Capacity for independent study
  • Must undergo an interview with the Section Head
  • Must pass the entrance examination
  • Documents to be submitted:
    • Formal letter of application
    • Two copies ASI Form No. 6 (Application Form)
    • Official transcript of record: Original Copy with Special Order (S.O.)
    • Honorable dismissal from the last school attended
    • Two letters of recommendation from the agency or organization the applicant is connected with
    • Autobiography
    • 2 passport-size ID picture

Bachelor of Science in Social Work (Specialized Course)

  • Completion of a 4-year degree course
  • Documents to be submitted: same requirements as those of the graduate program
  • Must pass the entrance examination
