Bidwell Training Center was established in 1968 to provide vocational training and employment opportunities to local residents. Originally located on Bidwell Street in the Manchester neighborhood of Pittsburgh’s North Side, the primary focus of training was in construction trades including rough carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing, and electrical wiring. Bidwell Training Center became licensed in 1969 by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and continued developing a variety of trades programs.
