Introduced in 2015, SGUnited Skills programs, Skillsfuture courses, and Skillsfuture credits were implemented in Singapore to help individuals hone their skill through various short online courses. Over the years, Skillsfuture has supported over hundreds of thousands of jobseekers and learners to expand their career opportunities and horizons and gain practical skills through skills training programs---ultimately guiding people to make a remarkable change to Singapore’s economy.

For Singaporeans aged 25 and above, they are given $500 as starting Skillsfuture credits that they can use to take courses they mind find interesting. Of course, those who are eligible to enroll in the programs available in the platform may choose to top-up more credits anytime to be able to take more courses and even earn formal certifications.

Various Skillsfuture courses on learning new languages are also available for people who wish to gain an in-depth understanding and mastery on their chosen language.

Here are some Skillsfuture approved language courses wherein Skillsfuture credits can be used:


1. Learn French at French Toast

French Toast is an academic platform based in Singapore particularly known as one of the most successful French language schools in the country. The organization primarily aims to teach French culture and language but are not also arranging organized events on interesting French-related projects like French-singing contests, wine tasting classes, and treasure hunts.

The school is officially registered at Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE) and features native French instructors, flexible and focused classes, and interactive learning modes. Their range of services also include group classes for adults and children, playgroups for younger learners, corporate group and private courses, French-in-lieu children courses, and exam preparation courses.

Course fee starts at $295 and the course duration can be completed in 8 weeks with 2.5 hour sessions a week.

 

2. Learn French, Spanish, and German at Eurolingo

Eurolingo is an award-winning language school established in Singapore in the year 2010 specializing in European languages such as French, Spanish, and German. Classes can be done in small group arrangements and tailor-made private lessons at school or at your own home.

Course fee for German lessons starts at $520 and the course can be competed in 10 weeks with 3 hour lessons per week. Spanish lessons, on the other hand, starts at $295 and can be finished within 8 weeks.

 

3. Learn Italian at Inlingua Language School

Join basic to advanced courses in leaning Italian at Inlingua Language School starting from $470 and master the Italian language after completing the course in 12 weeks. Inlingua is one of the most well-known Italian language schools based in Singapore who offers not just Italian courses but also a weekly Italian school and a book library and store for your learning resources.


4. Learn Korean at Ganada Korean Language School

Learn Korean at Ganada Korean Language Center with course fees starting from $220 with level 2 discounts of $120 for part-time studies and $60 for full-time studies---making this class one of the most affordable courses in our list.

Like other language courses, Ganada also features native language speakers with years of experience from teaching in Korean schools.

Korean classes here has 4 modules that can be completed in 9 weeks: (1) Mastering Hangeul, (2) Learning Greetings and Introductions, (3) Learning Interactions in Restaurants, and (4) Learning Interactions when Shopping.


5. Learn Japanese at Bunka Language School

Bunka Language School is an academic institution that specializes in teaching Japanese language and culture ever since the year 1985. They offer free introductory classes for first timers and full 10-week courses starting from $390 as enrollment fee.

Courses are distributed widely from elementary, intermediate, pre-advanced, advanced, and business levels ensuring that everyone from different skill levels of the spectrum are welcome to join classes.

Both online and in-person classes are also offered and you can choose one that can best suit your needs and preferences.

 

6. Learn Thai at National University of Singapore (NUS)

NUS’ Thai program uses an integrated learning approach to help students develop language proficiency and a good understanding of various communicative structures inherent in the Thai language. Moreover, the course also features classes that aims to help students gain a social and cultural knowledge and understanding of Thai for language learning and everyday language utilization.

The course includes progressive modules tackling basic and advanced lessons to master Thai and use the language to help the learner’s prospects in continuing further education.

A certificate of proficiency are awarded for students who can successfully complete more advanced classes under the 6-week program.

Course free starts at $330.


7. Learn Bahasa Indonesia at Learn Indonesian Asia (LIA) Singapore

LIA’s Bahasa Indonesia course features a beginner’s conversational Indonesian with inclined on a more business focus. The program is particularly designed to teach learners practical phrases commonly used in day to day conversations through practical and interactive learning modes.

The course has 6 specific topics that includes:

  1. Introductions on daily greetings, self-introductory phrases, and alphabets, numbers, day, time, and other basic terminologies;
  2. Interactions at the airport such as small talks, making conversations, and pronouns;
  3. Interactions at the hotel such as reserving room coupled with question words and phrases;
  4. Visiting clients in Indonesia that encompass small talks in the office and exchanging name cards with a focus on sentence structure;
  5. Ordering food and drinks and reserving a table; and
  6. A short presentation at the end of the course

Course fee starts at $660 and course duration can last up to 12 weeks.


8. Learn Mandarin at Yi Mandarin

Yi Mandarin features 3 learning modes that can satisfy the needs of different types of learners. This includes intensive small group classes with emphasis on conversational Chinese, weekly small group classes conducted at a gradual pace for a total of 12 weeks, and private classes for 1 on 1 classes with flexible schedules best suited for busy learners and professionals.

Course offers a free trial lessons and starts with $600 as course fee to have full access for all the lessons.
